Originally founded in April 2011 as The Minneapolis Beard and Moustache Club, The Minnesota Beard & Moustache Coalition (MBMC) represents, promotes and proliferates the ever-growing bearded and mustachioed community of Minneapolis, MN, and the surrounding area. Inspired after the 2011 Come and Shave It competition hosted by the Austin Facial Hair Club, the goal was to build a team of diverse facial hair competitors to tour the United States and the world in pursuit of whisker greatness. The MBMC was established with the intent to assemble other local facial hair enthusiasts and record a modern history of facial hair in Minneapolis and beyond.

As a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization, The MBMC works hard to fulfill our mission:To grow a more inclusive community through facial hair. We do so by pursuing three major initiatives:

1. Supporting our community through charity
2. Creating a modern history of facial hair in Minnesota
3. Advocating for facial hair acceptance, in the workplace
