The 3rd Carson Valley Days beard competition will be conducted in memory of Clifford Joy.

Joy and his brother Adam died of a fentanyl overdose that was discovered on Feb. 11 in South Lake Tahoe.

Clifford Joy won the moustache category during the 2023 Carson Valley Days beard contest and was a regular client at Taylor’s Scissors and Clippers.

In Joy’s memory, Lynch plans to honor him with a raffle basket during the mustache category of the competition and donate the funds to his family.

Beard enthusiasts can enter the competition in 11 categories:

• Most unique
• Reddest beard
• Best partial
• Best salt and pepper
• Best mustache
• Whitest beard
• Best groomed
• Longest
• Thickest
• Most scruffy
• Best beard strut

This year’s beard competition will be judged by:

• The Record-Courier’s Associate Publisher Tara Addeo
• Atom Knowles of the mental health organization The Altruistic American
• Ciprianis owner Nick Fontanez
