‘Beard competition’ held in honor of Carson Valley man

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – If you think you have the best facial hair in Nevada and, you want to show it off, you can do so for a good cause at Carson Valley Days June 8.

Taylor Lynch, the owner of Taylor’s Scissors and Clippers, is hosting the third annual event where men will get to show off their beards in 11 different categories. Those categories include longest beard, best groomed, and best salt and pepper.

“I do this competition because there’s beauty pageants for women but nothing for men these days,” Lynch said.

This year, the money raised is going to the family of last year’s mustache winner, Cliff Joy. Joy and his brother tragically passed from an accidental fentanyl overdose in South Lake Tahoe earlier this year and Lynch wishes to honor him.
